The Deanship of Library Affairs participated in Frankfurt International Book Fair that was held from 10 to 14 October 2018.
The Deanship of Library Affairs was represented by the Dean of Library Affairs, Dr. Muhammad Mubarak bin Dakhil Al-Lihiby, and Fawwaz bin Jazy Al-Sharif.
The Saudi Cultural Attaché in Germany, Dr. Munir bin Matny Al-Otaiby, inaugurated the Saudi wing. He declared that the Kingdom's participation in such an important international book fair, which is considered to be a stand of cultural and civilizational communication with Germans and foreign participants who visit the book fair annually, aimed at displaying the extent of development the Kingdom had in the fields of science, research, knowledge and culture. He added that this participation could be regarded as a bridge through which visitors can realize the richness of Saudi art and culture, and discover the Saudi cultural and scientific productions in writings and publications by virtue of the wise policy of the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Suad, may Allah protect and support him.
The Saudi wing was visited by many prominent figures, the most notable ones being His Eminence Shaykh Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimy, the ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, the head of Al-Sharjah Book Authority, German Assistant Foreign Minister for Middle East Affairs, and a number of Arab ambassadors in Germany who praised the abundance and diversity of titles and publications in the Saudi wing, especially the books translated into German that greatly attract the German readers.
