Head of Media Department Opens Training Program for Graduate Students

The Head of the Media Department in the College of Social Sciences, Dr. Salim bin Ali Oreijah, opened the first training program for the male and female graduate students in the department. The training program was presented by a member of the teaching staff in the department, Prof. Wadee bin Muhammad Al-Azazi, under the title: "Research Proposal for Writing Skills in Media Studies". The program took place at the College's meeting hall and was transmitted via closed-circuit TV at Al-Zahir campus for females. 


At the beginning of the meeting, the Head of the Media Department, Dr. Salim Oreijah, appreciated the confidence entrusted in him by the UQU President, Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, on the occasion of designating him as the Head of the Media Department. He stressed that he will be up to the responsibility and will work to upgrade the educational outputs of the academic programs in the undergraduate and MSc levels in a manner which will achieve the aspirations and hopes of the department students, in line with the needs of the labor market and according to the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030. That will be achieved, he added, via the quality programs that will be offered by the Department in the fields of public relations, radio, TV and journalism. 


He underlined the importance of organizing such training programs, which pave the way for researchers in the MSc level, and upgrade their research and cognitive skills in scientific research and the phases to be followed within the requirements of their research proposal. He then praised the support provided by the Dean of the Social Sciences College, Dr. Adnan bin Nori Al-Harby, for the activities and programs of the department. 


On his part, a member of the teaching staff in the Department, Prof. Wadee Al-Azazi, reviewed the phases that must be followed by the researcher in media studies represented in the skills of writing the elements of the research proposal, drafting the title and the research problem as well as setting its objectives and questions, and selecting the scientific methodology and the research sample scientifically. 


He also touched upon the aspects that define the proper theoretical part of the research and theme besides setting a comprehensive overview of the research index and contents and organizing the reference according to the scientific methods adopted in scientific research. Moreover, he discussed the different methods through which the comprehensive overview is finalized before being submitted to the supervisor.
