The UQU President, Dr. Bakri bin Maatouq Assas, has checked on progress of the placement tests that beneficiaries of the services provided by the English Learning Center have to pass. Accompanied by the UQU Vice President for Educational Affairs, Dr. Abdulaziz al-Sorouji, and the Dean of Admission, Dr. Abdulmajeed al-Ghamdi, Dr. Assas conducted an inspection tour through Bld. Q1, Al-Abdiyah Campus, where preparatory year students were having an exam, on Dhul-Hijjah 19, 1437H.
Dr. Sami Atarji, director of the Center, provided an elaborate account of its preparations for placement tests, and the services it offers to students. "Such services," he said, "are offered to all beneficiaries at the university's campuses in al-Abdiyah, al-Zaher and al-Shesha. They are provided to male and female students of the College of Applied Sciences, the Information Department at the College of Social Sciences, and College of Islamic Architecture, in addition to Preparatory Year students. The number of students benefiting from the Center's services amounts to 4,000 students of both genders."
He went on to say, "Umm al-Qura University (UQU), as represented by the English Learning Center, seeks to offer good English educational materials to students of the Preparatory Year, with its three paths (medical, scientific and administrative paths). This is carried out in cooperation with Oxford University printing houses." He pointed out that study at the center begins with a placement test, according to which students are graded. This ensures the highest level of educational attainment.
For his part, the UQU Presdient, Dr. Bakri bin Maatouq Assas, appreciated the strenuous efforts made be the English Learning Center, which spares no effort to offer the best and most fruitful educational services, provided by highly qualified instructors and faculty members. Nevertheless, Dr. Assas called on everyone to double effort, with a view to upgrading the educational level, thus realizing aspirations of the Wise Leadership, and going in line with the Saudi Vision 2030, as well as supporting transition to a science-based knowledge society.
