Dr. Hala bint Saeed Al-Amoudi, dean of the University Studies at Umm Al-Qura University (UQU), inaugurated the awareness campaign “I am a Paramedic”, which was organized by the branch of the University Medical Center, in collaboration with the Cultural Committee at the University Studies Deanship in Al-Zaher, and the volunteering team “I am Healthy”. The campaign aims at spreading the concept of first aid among the UQU affiliates, including the female faculty members, employees and students.
Dr. Thoria Abdelwahab, deputy director of the Medical and Counseling Center, said that the campaign will be activated widespread in all the colleges and girls branches owing to its importance, stressing that the goal is to increase awareness of first aid; not to receive information, but to the procedures of preventive rescue operations.
The campaign included a number of key elements of the first aid principles in a number of areas related to cardiopulmonary resuscitation, bottlenecks, treatment of diabetics, treatment of burns, wounds, fractures, epilepsy, fainting and nosebleed, in addition to identifying the contents in the home emergency bag.
In her turn, Dr. Hala Al-Amoudi appreciated the support extended by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Omar Baffel, UQU President, for the educational process. She also referred to the follow-up by Dr. Sara bint Omar Al-Kholi, UQU Vice-President Student Affairs, for the programs and activities carried out by the Deanship of University Studies, praising these activities and health awareness programs that are concerned with the health of the university's staff and dealing with health conditions in a safe manner.
