The UQU Dentistry College has launched the second round of its annual campaign to serve pilgrims' dental health. The campaign, dubbed "Kindness to Guests of Allah (Pilgrims)", was organized in cooperation with the National Tawafa Establishment for Pilgrims of Arabian Countries.
The event, held at the Land Premium Hotel in Makkah on Dhul Hijja 28-29, was attended by Dean of College of Dentistry and Supervisor of the Department of Housing and Scholarships Dr. Mohamed Beyary, Board Member and Head of the Northern Islan Section Fouad Beshara, Vice-dean for Clinical and Hospital Affairs Dr. Hassan Hazazi and a number of the Palestinian pilgrims. Lectures were held for welcoming and educating the attendees.
They provided guidance and health instructions for pilgrims in addition to advices on oral hygiene during hajj seasons. The participants were educated on healthy behaviors and teeth care using a brush or the teeth cleaning twig Siwak (Miswak).
The pilgrims were encouraged to commit with a balanced diet while performing the rites in a good health. The lecturers answered questions raised by the participants and took memorial photos with them before giving out 500 presents: Prayer rug, bag and pamphlet on the virtues of Day of Arafah (the holiest day in Islam that falls on the 9th day of Dhul Hijja).
Addressing the event, Dean of College of Dentistry expressed happiness for meeting and serving pilgrims. He explained some virtues of the hajj, saying the service provided for pilgrims is an honor bestowed by Allah on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He wished all pilgrims forgiveness and thanked the National Tawafa Establishment for Pilgrims of Arabian Countries and its Chairman Eng. Abbas Qattan for their cooperation with the college to organize the campaign. Dr. Beyary asserted the college's aspirations for more cooperation with the establishment to jointly provide more services for the pilgrims.
In the same context, Mr. Beshara extended thanks to the college, the dean and Umm Al-Qura University for their initiative. He said all sectors in the country are honored and endeavors to provide highest quality of services offered for pilgrims. A Palestinian pilgrim addressed the participants voicing thanks to the college, the establishment and Saudi government for their hospitality and keenness on serving visitors.
The campaign's events were organized by a member of the college's Student Club. The volunteering students included Amaar Pétain, Abdullah Okily, Mohsen Al Jabri, Adem Banjer, Amgad Khayat, Ragheb Halawani, Hashim Al Shanqeety, Fawaz Al Ansary, Abdel Wahab Naqour, Aseel Hafeh, Tareq Malyani and Mazen Mahboub. The participating professors included Dr. Abdel Aziz Kul, Dr. Omar Al Sefri. A number of female students have also taken part in the event including Noura Al Homaidhi, Amal Bahaziq, Najoud Al Shareef, Ulfat Abdel Sattar, Duaa Bazeed, Al Hanouf Al Souhaili, Rehab Radi, Lajeen Malaibari and Soumia Rashid Al Mohtadi.
In conclusion, Dr. Beyary voiced gratitude for the student's club, President of Umm Al Qura University Dr. Bakri Bin M'atoog Bin Bakri Assas and Education Minister Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Issa for their support. He added that this is part of endless support and keenness by King Salman of Saudi Arabia, Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Naif, Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman who spare no efforts to serve pilgrims. He wished them all good luck and success.
