Dr. Abdullah bin Omar BaFail, the President of UQU, sponsored the ceremony organized by the Administration of Faculty Members and Staff Affairs to honor the UQU Males and Females retirees, including faculty members, administrative employees, technicians and non-Saudi contract employees whose contracting periods have ended. The retirees number amounted to 285 affiliates. The ceremony was attended by the UQU Vice Presidents and the Deans of the Colleges, Institutes and Supporting Deanships. For men, it was held at King Abdul-Aziz historical hall in Al-Abediya and at Al-Jawhara hall at the university campus in Al-Zahir for females.
The event was opened with Quranic recitation. After that Mr. Saeed bin Salem Al-Solami, the Director of the Administration of Faculty Members and Staff Affairs, gave a speech in which he valued the sponsorship of the UQU President and Dr. Yassir Shoushou, the UQU Vice President; Dr. Sara Al-Khouli, the Vice Dean for Female Student Affairs, who showed the University’s keenness on honoring the retired affiliates and contract employees, who exerted efforts and offered a lot in the service of the University and contributed to promoting it. He pointed that this honoring is a part of the University’s duty towards its affiliates who had great impact in its scientific and practical path. He then wished everyone success in their future.
After that, Dr. Norah Qarout delivered the retirees' speech via video conferencing, on behalf of the faculty members and Dr. Mohamed Al-Nahary delivered an address on behalf of the administrative staff. On behalf of retirees, they expressed their sincere thanks to the University and its President for this graceful gesture. They highlighted that this comes as no surprise to the University, which has always made every effort to enable its personnel to fulfill their mission to perfection.
Retirees, as expressed in the two addresses delivered on their behalf, made clear that this gesture reflects a state of cohesion of all UQU affiliates. It also stresses on the Keenness of the UQU President on honoring all who contributed to the University's scientific, academic, administrative and social march. They noted that they will not forget their long years they were honored to spend in the University.
Moreover, the UQU President valued the efforts exerted by the honorees. He stressed that honoring the University's retirees, and ex-contract employees, as well as those who passed away, comes in recognition of their efforts and significant contributions. He mentioned that they were allowed to do their job to the utmost, thanks to Allah, and to the gracious support of the wise government led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. He added that the cooperation and integration between academic and administrative staff has contributed to the success of the academic process and graduating the outstanding national cadres that are serving their country and society so ably. Meanwhile, he called on retirees, especially of the faculty members, to keep supporting the University with their extensive expertise. He prayed Allah to confer health and well-being upon them all.
At the end, the UQU President handed out honorary shields and certificates of appreciation to retirees and ex-contract employees. Similar souvenirs were presented by Dr. Sara Al-Khouli, to honorees at the Girls Section.
