On behalf of the President of UQU, the Vice President for Educational Affairs, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Rashad Serouji, inaugurated on Monday 30 Rajab 1439AH at Al-Jawhara hall the Scientific Fair of the Sixth Scientific Forum for the graduation projects of the students of the Chemistry Department, for academic year 1438-1439AH. This took place in the presence of the Dean of Applied Sciences College, Dr. Hatem Al-Tass; the Vice Dean of Jamoum University College, Dr. Tawfiq Al-Sharif; the Head of the Chemistry Department, Dr. Ismail Al-Thaqafi, in addition to the Vice Deans of the college, department heads, and the participating students.
The Vice President looked at the 33 scientific posters participating in the event. They contained the total scientific points students in the various specialties of Chemistry worked on, in addition to four corners that contained multiple aspects of chemistry.
Dr. Serouji praised the students’ scientific projects, adding that they contribute to developing students’ skills, and help them enhance their characters. Additionally, they are in line with the kingdom's 2030 vision. He also extended his thanks to the College of Applied Sciences, represented in its Dean, Hatem Al-Tass, as well as to the Vice Deans, the Head of the Chemistry Department, and the staff of the department for their efforts.
For his part, Dr. Al-Tass explained that this forum is one of the most important events that clearly show the cleverness of students in terms of using scientific research skills and exhibiting their work and thoughts to become the first of their scientific products. He added that the skills of scientific research and writing scientific results in a correct scientific form is one of the most important aspects that attract both the government and private work sectors to graduates of Applied Sciences College. He pointed out that this attention given to Applied Sciences graduates must leave a positive impact on the education outputs, which would be manifested in connecting academic programs to the labor market.
Dr. Al-Thaqafi, the Head of the Chemistry Department, explained that the forum is an extension of the efforts of the department to celebrate the efforts of students and present their scientific and research products as an enthronement of their graduation and their joining of various work fields. To emphasize the importance of students’ graduation projects, the department, represented in the faculty members supervising the students, was keen on teaching them the correct scientific methods to carry out scientific research theoretically and practically, and help them benefit from the information they received throughout their years of study during the bachelor’s phase. Students, as a result, can obtain scientific innovations that matter in the future. There are currently many evidences for the transformation of some graduation projects by many students into technological, industrial and medical innovations. They have benefited humanity and contributed to scientific development and progress. We hope that the students of the Chemistry Department at UQU would have a positive impact in various fields of work that support the kingdom’s 2030 vision. He then extended his thanks to people who contributed to and accomplished this work.
At the end of the event, Dr. Al-Thaqafi made a dedication to the Vice President of UQU for Educational Affairs, Dr. Abdulaziz Serouji, and the Dean of Applied Sciences College, Dr. Hatem Al-Tass, as well as to the Vice President of Jamoum University College, Dr. Tawfiq Al-Sharif.
