The President of Umm Al-Qura University Professor Abdullah Omar Bafail launched the awareness exhibition of the "Prevention, Safety and Epidemic Control" campaign. Present in the launching ceremony, which took place at Al-Diyafa market in Makkah, were; the Dean of the Consulting Research and Studies Institute Dr. Ali bin Mohamed Al-Shaari, the Dean of Nursing College Dr. Ayman Jawahirji and the Dean of the Applied Medical Sciences College Dr. Ayman Al-Saeygh.
Meanwhile, the UQU President Professor Abdullah Omar Bafail lauded the support attached by the wise leadership to the educational process and the academic and research methods of the university in such manner which contributed to providing an attractive environment for science and learning at the university main campus in Makkah and its branches at Jamoum, Al-Lith, Adhm and Al-Qunfudhah provinces. He also praised the support provided by the Minister of Education Dr. Ahmed bin Mohamed Al-Issa to the programs and activities of the university which are in line with the National Transformation Plan 2020 and the Kingdom Vision 2030.
"The provided scabies awareness program, is part of the university's role towards the community using its capabilities and human cadres in the community development through the quality programs provided in the different fields in line with the needs of the labor market in the medical, engineering, sharia, and Arabic languages sciences", he expounded.
He then lauded the efforts exerted by the male and female students and all the university staff involved in the scabies awareness campaign provided by the university to the surrounding community highlighting the significant role of the awareness and educational programs in controlling the infectious diseases.
Concluding his speech, he wished all success and progress to all those involved in the campaign including; faculty members and male and female students of the university.
In turn, the Dean of Consulting Research and Studies, Dr. Ali bin Mohamed Al-Shaari praised directives of the UQU President Professor Abdullah Bafail and his support to the awareness programs provided by the Institute in collaboration with the medical colleges in the university for the prevention efforts against scabies. He said the campaign is aimed at increasing the awareness among the persons infected with scabies and provide them with the needed guidance to recover from the disease besides instilling a sense of tranquility amongst the members of the community to avoid panic. "That is to be added to providing the needed assistance to the officials of the Ministry of Health involved in the disease control to boost prevention efforts and stand up to the university role in serving the community", he elaborated.
In turn, the Dean of Nursing College, who serves also as the Supervisor of the Unit of Continuing Medical Education Dr. Ayman Jawahirji said the exhibition is intended to shed light on scabies, its history, causes, transmission ways and symptoms. He noted that clinical and laboratory diagnoses are provided for the cases visiting the exhibition. Additionally, he said awareness programs are provided for the infected persons including; treatment methods, then they are transferred to the health centers.
He went on to add that a corner in the exhibition is designed for children including; cartoon characters and awareness games on scabies.
