UQU President Participates in the Applied Skills Workshop

President of Umm Al Qura University (UQU) Dr. Bakri Bin M'atoog Bin Bakri Assas participated in the first workshop on the applied skills in the quarterly system project in high school, in the presence of the Advisor to the Vice Minister of Education for Curriculum and Educational Programs, the Supervisor General of the Project, Dr. Khalid Al-Quraishi, the Dean of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute, Dr. Wadih Barqawi, the Member of the Applied Skills Team, and Head of the Administrative Sciences Department in the General Administration of Education in Madinah, Mr. Rasheed Hashim Rasheed, the Advisor to the Vice President  for Business and Innovation, Mohamed Qasim Ibrahim, Director of Public Relations and Media Department in Wadi Makkah Technology Company, Dr. Magid Abdullah. The workshop took place at the meetings hall in Wadi Makkah Technology Company in the university Campus in Abdiyah on Wednesday Shawal 29, 1437H.  
 
Meanwhile, Dr. Assas said this workshop comes as part of the directives and keenness of HE the Minister of Education, Dr. Ahmed Al-Iesa to develop education curriculum in accordance with the requirements of the era, particularly in modern technology and entrepreneurship. "This workshop is the early fruit of a series of workshops to be organized based on the cooperation agreement between MOE and UQU inked recently to provide programs, qualification and training for the affiliates of the Ministry of Education in the field of leadership and entrepreneurship, besides providing necessary requirements to achieve its objectives by introducing applied skills course  in the quarterly system schools depending on Innovation and entrepreneurship skills-based education", he elaborated .    
 
He added that the workshop is an evident of the steps achieved by UQU in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship and designing of educational courses in this regard, pointing out that the university has recently decided to teach innovation 101 and entrepreneurship 101 as an optional courses for students within their study plan in UQU so as to encourage and stimulate them for innovation and entrepreneurship in accordance with the national transformation towards knowledge-based economy stipulated in the Kingdom Vision 2030. He lauded the unstinting support the UQU receive from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud, May Allah Protect Him, the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdul-Aziz, Deputy Premier, Minister of Interior, the Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Second Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense. He lauded also the directives of the minister of education which will contribute to upgrading the educational, innovative and research system in the university.    
 
For his part, the Dean of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute, Dr. Wadih Barqawi said the workshop discussed a number of topics related to making content of the applied skills course and the mechanism of  Makkah participation and as  a MOE partner in ensuring success of this course by attracting students who have successful projects and embracing them in the startups center   to provide necessary practical training for them in accordance with the course objectives to produce entrepreneurs beneficial to their community. He added teaching of this course has started in the general education schools at the first and second levels and the work is going on through this workshop to cover the  four remaining levels.
