The President of Umm Al-Qura University Professor Abdullah Omar Bafail has launched today at his office at the university campus in Abdyia the awareness and educational campaign of scabies under the theme: "Prevention, Safety and Control of Epidemics", carried out by the Consulting Research and Studies Institute represented by the Unit of Continuing Medical Education and the Centre for Safety, Risk and Crisis Management (SAFE) in collaboration with the medical colleges. The launching ceremony took place in the presence of the Dean of the Consulting Research and Studies Institute Dr. Ali Al-Shaari, the Dean of Nursing College and the Supervisor General of the Unit of Continuing Medical Education Dr. Ayman Jawahirji, the Vice Deans of the College of Applied Medical Sciences Dr. Mohamed Al-Karbi and Dr. Mahir Indejani, the Dean of the Preparatory Year Dr. Saeed Al-Ghamdi, and the Vice Deans of the Consulting Research and Studies Institute Dr. Sahl Waheeb and Dr. Yousef Al-Otaibi.
Following the launching ceremony, the UQU President Professor Abdullah Bafail praised such step taken by the Consulting Research and Studies Institute in collaboration with the medical colleges stressing the importance of organizing such awareness campaigns which contribute to promote community awareness. "These campaigns are part of the precautionary plan set by the university to raise awareness of the university community in particular and the community in general with regard to scabies", he expounded.
He then lauded the support attached and still to the university by the wise leadership and the follow-up of the Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Emir of Makkah HRH Prince Khalid Al-Faisal and the Deputy Emir of Makkah HRH Prince Abdullah bin Bander in addition to the support of the Minister of Education Dr. Ahmed Al-Issa provided to all the programs and activities of the university which is consistent with National Transformation Program 2020 and the Kingdom Vision 2030.
For his part, the Dean of the Consulting Research and Studies Dr. Ali Al-Shaari said this awareness campaign proceeds from the university role in promoting community awareness against such diseases, adding that this campaign which will last for two weeks, is intended to raise health awareness of scabies in and outside the university and will include spreading therapeutic and preventing guidelines to maintain physical and psychological. He went on to add that the campaign will include also organizing awareness lectures, awareness corners and visiting social facilities.
