President of Umm Al-Qura University (UQU) Dr. Bakri Bin M'atoog Bin Bakri Assas, chaired at his office in Abdiyah Campus, the meeting of the Supreme Committee to Study the Situations of theTeaching Assistants and Lecturers who were appointed more than three years ago and have not yet completed their graduate studies. The meeting took place on Wednesday Shawal 15th , 1437H corresponding to July 20th 2016.
Launching the meeting, Dr. Assas lauded the directives and aspirations of the Minister of Education Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Issa on removing the obstacles facing teaching assistants and lecturers in the university towards completing their graduate studies and obtaining PhD certificates so as to be appointed as faculty members, the thing which will have a positive impact on supporting scientific research and providing students with more academic skills.
He indicated that, in light of the potentials provided by the wise leadership for the education sector as general and the university education in particular, there is a room for them to complete their graduate studies in or outside the Kingdom in continuation of the overall renaissance process witnessed in our blessed country. He added that the committee has formed sub-committees to start discussing the obstacles and setting the proper solutions and proposals for them.
It is noteworthy that, the committee which has been formed as per the directives of the minister of education is composed of; Dr. Assas as chairman, UQU Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Thamir bin Hamdan Al-Harbi, as a deputy chairman, and the membership of UQU Vice President, Dr. Yasser bin Suleiman Shosho, the Dean of Graduate Studies Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah Al-Firaih, Supervisaor General of Scholarship Department, Dr. Ahmed Barqawi, Supervisor General of Legal Department, Dr. Hamdan Al-Ghamdi, the Director of the Deanship of Faculty Members and Staff Affairs, Mr. Nazar Abbas, and Mr. Bander Al-Zuhairy as the rapporteur of the committee.
