His Royal Highness Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Adviser to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Prince of Makkah Region, received His Excellency Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, newly appointed President of Umm Al-Qura University (UQU), at the headquarters of the Emirate of Makkah in Jeddah.  

The Prince of Makkah Region congratulated UQU President on the royal trust that has been the reason for his appointment as President of the University, stressing the importance of promoting the educational and academic environment in way that reflects positive effects on the output that will have such a major impact in the advancement of the homeland.   

For his part, Prof. Bafail expressed his appreciation of the leadership’s trust, noting that the words and directions of the Prince of Makkah Region will be – with the help of God – a motivation for developing academic work. Moreover, Prof. Bafail provided a brief explanation of the University’s plan that is consistent with the requirements of the National Transformation 2020 and the Saudi Vision 2030. He clarified that there will be a focus on investment in the knowledge economy emanating from the scientific research system out of which come patents that get converted into tangible products that contribute to serving society via the labor market.
