The “Heritage and Legacy” festival, which was organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs represented by the Vice Deanship for Activities and Training, closed on Thursday, after being held between Rajab 8 and 12, 1439H. The closure was attended Dr. Sarah bint Omar Al-Khouli, the UQU Vice President for Female Student Affairs; Dr. Hala bint Saeed Al-Amoudi, the Dean of University Studies for Girls; Dr. Kholoud bint Saad Al-Youssef , the Vice Dean of the Deanship of for Educational Affairs and Development; Vice Deans of the Deanship of Students Affairs; Dr. Kholoud bint Mohamed Abu Al-Naja, the Vice Dean for Student Activities and Training; Dr. Mona bint Mohamed Haji, the Vice Dean for Student Support; the Vice Deans of the Supporting Deanships; Teaching Staff; and Students. The conclusion ceremony took place at the Al-Jawhara Hall at Al-Zahir Campus for Girls.
Dr. Sarah checked the accompanying heritage exhibition under the theme of “Homeland through Our Eyes,” which aimed at reviving the folklore between the past and present. It included folksy pavilions and interactive performances that imitate the folklore of the past and modernization of the present. After that the special ceremony made for this occasion started with a Quranic recitation then royal salute.
After that a poem was recited entitled “شيخنا سلمان” (Our Leader Salman). Then, the UQU Vice President for Female Student Affairs, made a speech in which she expressed her happiness with the event that entrenches the legacy in a way that mixes between preserving the authenticity of the past with the modern development ways that are in consistent with our Islamic belief. She then thanked the Deanship of Students Affairs for their keen on offering all the benefits for the UQU students. Moreover, Dr. Sarah congratulated Dr. Abdullah bin Omar Baveel on the issuance of the royal decree appointing him as the University’s President, wishing him luck and success in serving the UQU and its students and affiliates.
Dr. Kholoud Abu Al-Naja gave a speech in which she stressed on the importance of reviving the folklore of which steps are being drawn by the current generations with the necessity of preserving this folklore despite time and incidents.
This was followed by a folkloric singing segment under the title "مكة الخير” (The Benevolent Makkah) and a poem translated in the sign language titled "أنا سعودي” (I am Saudi). Then, there was a singing operetta entitled “أرضنا غيوم المعالي” (Our Land Is a Cloud High in the Sky), which was accompanied by a visual presentation for the KSA Imams and kings throughout the Kingdom’s history.
At the end of the event, Dr. Khouli and Dr. Amoudi honored all the organizers and participants in the Heritage and Legacy festival with commemorative plates and souvenirs.
