UQU Vice President for Female Student Affairs, Dr. Sarah bint Omar Al-Kholy, has inaugurated the activities of safe driving, organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs, represented in the Vice Deanship for Direction and Guidance, in cooperation with the Traffic Safety Committee in the Eastern region, and the Saudi Traffic Safety Society. The inauguration took place in the presence of the Dean of University Studies, Dr. Halah bin Saeed Al-Amoudi, and the Vice Dean of Student Affairs for Direction, Guidance and Community Partnership, Dr. Amal bin Omar Sanadi, in addition to several faculty members. The event took place at building “H” at the university campus in Al-Zahir.

Dr. Al-Kholy explained that the safe driving project is a positive start towards implementing the royal decision to allow women to drive based on clear controls and frameworks. She noted that it is part of the awareness steps that the Vice Presidency of the Students Affairs aims to implement over the upcoming period, in accordance with the 2030 vision. She also pointed out that these steps must be implemented based on safe driving manners and traffic rules.

Dr. Al-Kholy praised the efforts made by the Deanship of Student Affairs, represented in the Deanship of Direction and Guidance, for implementing community partnership and holding activities that benefit students. She also praised the support and guidance of Dr. Assass, which have enhanced the cognitive skills of the university staff.

The Safe Driving event started with a workshop about the manners of driving vehicles and raising awareness about the basis and rules of driving in simple amusing ways. This happened through using the “Safe Driving Challenge” trailer which contained awareness programs for all the students and staff members who wanted to get acquainted with the rules of safe driving. About 20 questions were answered in this area. Afterward, the participants were introduced to an interactive simulator that resembles a vehicle driven by roads. At the end of the interactive driving, the errors made by each individual are pointed out, and the extent of adhering to traffic safety is assessed.
