Honoring Dr. Al-Firaih: Deanship of Postgraduate Studies to End All Programs Not in line with the Kingdom Vision 2030

The Dean of UQU Deanship of Postgraduate Studies Dr. Saeed Al-Harthi revealed that all postgraduate studies not in line with the Kingdom Vision 2030 will be terminated by the academic year 1440/1441 H, noting that all colleges must submit work plans to update their current programs and introduce new programs in consistency with the needs of the labor market. He said that graduate studies programs for the higher diploma, MSc and PhD Levels  are totaling to about 80 programs.  

 

This came during the honoring ceremony organized by the Deanship of Scientific Research for its former dean Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah Al-Firaih under the slogan of" A Gesture of Appreciation for Great Efforts Exerted",  at King Abdul-Aziz Supportive Hall at the University Campus in Abdyia which was transmitted via the closed TV circuit to Al-Jawhara Hall at the university campus in Al-Zahir.  Present in the honoring ceremony were; the UQU President Dr. Bakri bin M'atooq Assas, the former President of the Islamic University in Al-Madinah Dr. Mohamed Al-Aqla, the UQU Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research Dr. Thamir bin Hamdan Al-Harbi,  the UQU Vice President for female Students Affairs Dr. Sarah bint Omar Al-Kholy, the Dean of Postgraduate Studies Dr. Saeed bin Abdul-Rahman Al-Harthi and the Dean of University Studies for Girls Dr. Hala bint Saeed Al-Amoudi. 

 

Meanwhile, the Dean of Postgraduate Studies Dr. Saeed Al-Harthi said: "being aware of its signifcant role in the system of the university work, the deanship has embarked on setting future developmental plans for the coming years. He added such plans were firstly started by the celebrated person and his team work and included all aspects related to the structure of the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies regarding all procedures and outgoing and incoming transactions to create a paperless deanship depending on the e-transactions and harnessing the modern technology  in developing and launching e-services, building database including all the deanship information. Additionally,   he said new vice deanships were introduced, regulations were revised and policies manuals were prepared so as to provide high quality services and provide all requirement of graduate students to enable them provide an outstanding scientific production and achieve the deanship vision in producing quality outputs in cooperation with the relevant colleges and deanships. 

The ceremony started with a Quranic recitation, to be follwoed by a presentation about the achievements of the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies during the academic years 1436/1437 H and 1437/1438 H. 

After that, the UQU President Dr. Assas delivered speech in which he valued the efforts exerted by Dr. Saleh Al-Firaih during his tenure in the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies that witnessed a qualitative and developmental leap in all graduate studies programs and he wished him all success during the coming period. He also wished all success to the current Dean of Postgraduate Studies Dr. Saeed Al-Harthi and urged him to continue development process in line with the Kingdom Vision 2030.  

 

In turn, the UQU Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research Dr. Thamir bin Hamdan Al-Harbi appreciated the efforts exerted by the ex-Dean of Postgraduate Studies Dr. Saleh Al-Firaih which contributed significantly to the development of graduate studies system in the university. 

 

For his part, Dr. Saleh Al-Firaih lauded in his speech the keenness of the UQU President Dr. Bakri Assas and the UQU Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research to attend personally to the ceremony indicating that all achievements made during his tenure in the deanship were the fruit of the efforts of the work team in the deanship which he is proud of. He then praised such brotherly gesture made by the Dean of Postgraduate Studies Dr. Saeed Al-Harthi and all the affiliates of the Deanship.   

 

Then, the Vice Dean of University Studies for Girls, Dr. Mayson Al-Binayyan delivered speech on behalf of the deanship  saying thT the celebrated persons was having an untraditional vision and endeavored to have  a role in the development of the deanship and the achievements made during his tenure are the fruits of his insight. 

 

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the UQU President Dr. Bakri Assas honored Dr. Al-Firaih in return for the achievements made during his tenure.
