President of Umm Al-Qura University Dr. Bakri bin M'atooq bin Bakri Assas met at his office at the university campus in Abdyia with the delegation of the German Accreditation Agency ASIIN for the International Academic Accreditation. Present in the meeting were the UQU Vice President for Development and Entrepreneurship Dr. Hani bin Osman Ghazi, Dean of University Development and Quality Dr. Mohamed Jaafar Thabit, Dean of Applied Sciences College Dr. Waleed Altaf, and the Dean of College of Engineering and Islamic Architecture Dr. Hamza Ghulman. The meeting was designed to discuss requirements of academic accreditation for the programs of the Islamic architecture, applied physics, medical physics and mathematics.
At the commencement of the meeting, Dr. Assas welcomed the members of the delegation and wished them success in following up accreditation works and requirements for the departments of the Colleges of Engineering and Islamic Architecture and Applied Sciences. He reviewed the university's colleges, institutes, and research centers in different academic and research fields. He then praised the support offered and still to the university by the wise leadership to help the university being placed within the list of the leading universities globally. After that, Dr. Assas underscored the importance of this visit to come out with several recommendations serving the academic system in line with the international standards.
For his part, the UQU Vice President for Development and Entrepreneurship Dr. Hani Ghazi expressed his happiness and satisfaction for the highly-praised level achieved by the Colleges of Applied Sciences and Engineering and Islamic Architecture.
"We are not looking only to achieve the academic accreditation but to maintain quality of the programs provided by the university", he expounded.
Within the same context, the Dean of University Development and Quality, Dr. Mohamed Thabit said the visit of the German delegation comes as part of the ambitious plan set by the UQU Vic Presidency for Development and Entrepreneurship and the Deanship of University Development and Quality to help all the university programs to obtain the academic accreditation.
He also noted that the German team visit is to last for two days. It is to focus on inspecting all the facilities of the programs of Islamic architecture, applied physics, medical physics, and mathematics. Similarly he added, the team is to hold meeting with the college's leadership, academic staff members and students, as well as what has been mentioned in the self-study reports in terms of data related to the college. Afterwards, the accreditation decision will be taken by the Board of Directors of the German Accreditation Agency.
After that, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of the UQU Vice President for Development and Entrepreneurship Dr. Hani Ghazi to discuss requirements of standards of academic accreditation for the program of Islamic architecture in the College of Engineering and Islamic Architecture and to respond to the inquiries related to these programs in the presence of UQU Vice President for Branches Dr. Abdul-Majeed Al-Ghamdi, Dean of Applied Sciences College Dr. Waleed Altaf, Dean of College of Engineering and Islamic Architecture Dr. Hamza Ghulman Deans of Supportive Deanships, College Vice Deans and Heads of the Departments at King Faisal Hall at the University campus in Abdyia.
