Intellectual Awareness Unit Organizes 1st Meeting about (Intellectual Security Concepts)

The Intellectual Awareness Unit in Umm Al-Qurra University organized its first enriching meeting about “Intellectual Security Concepts” on Tuesday at King Abdulaziz Supportive Hall for men and Al-Jawhara Hall at the girls campus for women. The event was attended by Dr. Yasser bin Soliman Shosho, the UQU Vice President, and witnessed the participation of teaching staff members.

The meeting started with a speech for Dr. Yasser Shosho, in which he stressed on the importance of the intellectual awareness and drafting the concepts in a way that conform with each of the temporal phases, which would contribute to achieving the intellectual security for the society in general and the university community in particular. He praised the role of the Intellectual Awareness Unit and its organizers in spreading the culture of intellectual security awareness and fixing any distortions occur in some intellectual concepts that may lead to deviation in the individual behavior and impact the community security. He wished luck and success for everybody and achievement of objectives, such as holding such beneficial meetings.

Dr. Mohamed bin Ibrahim Al-Sa’iedy, the Head of the Intellectual Awareness Unit, gave a comprehensive introduction about the unit, its mechanisms and objectives. He also talked about the role of such meetings in spreading the concept of intellectual security in the university community, clarifying the need for awareness indicators, stating the most prominent issues that must be addressed, and determining the developments of the possible means of intellectual security.

During the meeting, Dr. Al-Sa’iedy discussed the analysis of the intellectual security concept through four main topics, including what is meant by the intellectual security and awareness; the intellectually positive situation in the university community; the sources of the intellectual risk; the incubators of the intellectual risk; and the university community’s means of prevention for them. He stressed on the importance of the role of the teaching staff members in planting the good values in the students inside the university community and correcting the wrong concepts and intellectual distortions that may lead to the exaggeration, for the safety and security of the university community in particular and the society environment in general.

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Al-Sa’iedy answered the presence’s inquires and questions.
