Dr. Bakri bin M'atooq Assas, Umm Al-Qura University President, discussed, with the University’s Vice Presidents and Colleges’ Vice Deans and the related assisting deanships, the program of the visit of the German delegation on next Wednesday and Thursday. UQU President made sure that all the required conditions are being met to get the academic accreditation for the Islamic Architecture Program in the College of Engineering and Islamic Architecture; and the Applied Physics, Medical Physics, and Mathematics Programs in the College of Applied Sciences. The discussion meeting was held at the President’s office in the University City in Al-Abediya.
Dr. Bakri stressed the importance of offering an educational environment that is attractive for science, learning and research process. He added that the university’s administration is keen on getting the international academic accreditation for all its academic programs, for which it made significant strides to implement the required conditions to get the accreditations from the global accrediting institutions and agencies. These accreditations prove that the scientific programs offered by the university, along with all its different colleges and branches are keeping pace with the global universities. He noted that the reason of the visit of the delegation of the German Accreditation Agency ASIIN to the Colleges of Islamic Architecture and Applied Sciences is to make sure that they have met all the requirements of academic accreditation.
The UQU President said that the university has taken an advanced step towards getting the international academic accreditation from the specialized international institutions. He pointed out that the total number of academic programs that got the international academic accreditation reached 29 programs for (10) colleges, while it is expected for the current academic year 1438/1439H to get accreditations for (5) academic programs in the Colleges of Applied Sciences and Islamic Architecture. He lauded the efforts exerted by Dr. Hani bin Osman Ghazi, UQU Vice President for Development and Entrepreneurship, and the team working with him to get the international accreditation for the university's academic programs.
Moreover, Dr. Hani Ghazi noted that the university’s academic programs became ready for the international academic accreditation according to the criteria of the international requirements and the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment (NCAAA), on the institutional level. He added that around 570 trainees were trained in the strategic planning, including cadres from the teaching staff members, employees, and students. He praised the follow-up and directives of the UQU President which contributed to finding the educational environment that is aligning with the international academic accreditation requirements and spreading the concept and culture of quality in the university.
