Today, Thursday, the proceedings of the sessions of the Scientific Conference on Hisbah (religious oversight over public welfare), which was held under the theme “National Belonging and Ideological Security,” were concluded. The conference was organized by the Higher Institute for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice at Umm Al-Qura University (UQU) through the period from the 27th to the 29th day of Jumada Al-Awwal 1439 AH.
In the fifth scientific session, which was chaired by Dr. Yasser bin Ali Al-Qahtani, Dean of the Institute, the subject of “أثر الاسرة في تعزيز قيم الانتماء الوطني والأمن الفكري ومواجهة تحدياتهما” (The Impact of Families on Promoting the Values of National Belonging and Ideological Security and Facing Their Challenges) was tackled by Dr. Mofreh Suleiman Al-Qousi, Professor at Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud University.
Meanwhile, Dr. Muhammad Hussein Al-Shiaani addressed “دور الأسرة المسلمة في تعزيز الانتماء الوطني وأثره في مواجهة الفكر المنحرف” (The Role of Muslim Families in Promoting National Belonging and Its Impact on Confronting Deviant Ideology). Moreover, Dr. Abeer bint Abdulqader Al-Orabi, Assistant Professor at UQU, talked about “دور الأستاذة الجامعية في تنمية قيم المواطنة لدى الطالبة معلمة التربية الاسلامية بجامعة أم القرى” (The Role of Female University Professors in Developing the Values of Citizenship in Islamic Education Female Teacher Students at Umm Al-Qura University).
Besides, Dr. Hashem bin Ali Al-Ahdal, College of the Holy Mosque of Makkah, presented “دور الاحتساب في تعزيز قيمة المسؤولية الاجتماعية لدى المؤسسات التربوية” (The Role of Hisbah Practices in Promoting the Value of Social Responsibility in Educational Institutions). And in his turn, Dr. Abdulkareem bin Abdulaziz Al-Shamlan, Riyadh Education Administration, tackled “القيادة المدرسية والدور المناط بها في توظيف الاحتساب لتعزيز قيم المواطنة” (School Leadership and the Role Entrusted to It in Employing Hisbah Practices for Promoting the Values of Citizenship).
In the same session, Dr. Suleiman bin Qassem Al-Eid, Professor at King Saud University, discussed “مساهمة كراسي البحث في تعزيز قيم الانتماء الوطني والأمن الفكري لكرسي الملك عبدالله بن عبدالعزيز للحسبة وتطبيقاتها المعاصرة – أنموذجاً” (The Contribution of Research Chairs to Promoting the Values of National Belonging and Ideological Security for King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Chair for Hisbah and Its Contemporary Applications – as an Example). Furthermore, Dr. Muhammad Eid Abdulaziz Abu Kareem, Assistant Professor at King Khalid University, presented his working paper on “دور الجامعات السعودية في تعزيز الانتماء الوطني والأمن الفكري” (The Role of Saudi Universities in Promoting National Belonging and Ideological Security).
In the sixth – the last – session of the conference, which was chaired by Dr. Abdullah Hamoud Al-Harbi, Member of the Shura Council, participants discussed six working papers. Among them was Dr. Saad bin Abdullah Al-Areifi, Naif Security University, who talked about “الحسبة ودورها في تعزيز الأمن الفكري في المجتمع” (Hisbah and Its Role in Promoting Ideological Security in Society).
In addition, Major Madhi bin Rashed Al-Subaie, Naif Security College, presented a paper entitled “جهود أمن الدولة في الأمن الفكري” (State Security Efforts in Ideological Security), and Dr. Abdullah bin Rafoud Al-Sufyani, Member of the Shura Council, discussed “الحسبة في ضوء فلسفة التربية الإسلامية” (Hisbah in Light of the Philosophy of Islamic Education). There was also Mr. Fayez bin Motlaq Al-Beshri, Customs Administration, who presented a paper on “الحسبة في نظام الجمارك” (Hisbah in Customs Law).
And for his part, Mr. Owaidah bin Meshkhes Al-Sulami, Branch Director at the Anti-Corruption Commission, presented a paper on “جهود هيئة مكافحة الفساد ودورها في الأمن” (The Efforts and Role of the Anti-Corruption Commission in Security), while Dr. Khaleel bin Abdullah Al-Khaleel, Former Member of the Shura Council, tackled through the paper he presented “الإعلام ذراع الدولة لحماية الوحدة الوطنية وترسيخ روح المواطنة” (Media, the Arm of the State for Safeguarding National Unity and Consolidating the Spirit of Citizenship).
