UQU President Reviews Strategic Plan of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute

President of Umm Al-Qura University Dr. Bakri bin M'atooq bin Bakri Assas has reviewed at his office at the university campus in Abdyia the strategic plan of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute up to the year 2020. Present in the meeting were; the UQU Vice President for Development and Entrepreneurship Dr. Hani bin Osman Ghazi and the Dean of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute who serves also as the Supervisor General of the Intellectual Property Management Office Dr. Mowfaq bin Mohamed bin Ahmed Oreijah. The plan is comprised of training and educational programs and forums in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship in line with the Kingdom Vision 2030.

   

During the meeting, Dr. Assas listened to an elaborate presentation on the workflow report of the three initiatives overseen by the institute including; establishment of electronic education, training and rehabilitation center related to investment, creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship for all categories of university students, establishment of center for training and rehabilitation of university students in fields of design, manufacturing and modeling besides establishment and development of service system for students and investors and increasing efficiency of the students startups.

 

The UQU President reiterated the importance of such programs, activities, and plans that would support entrepreneurs (whether students, faculty members, researchers or innovators) to partake in realizing the Kingdom Vision 2030. This should be the main focus of the Institute, he said, given that creative work and entrepreneurship constitute the hard core of its message. Meanwhile, he called on affiliates of the Institute to make every to contribute to achieving the leading role of the university and to serving our nation and citizens. That is to be achieved, he stressed, by thinking of better programs that would help realize the desired objectives set in the Kingdom Vision 2030.

 


Within the same vein, Dr. Assas also reviewed the institute's strategic plan for the coming period, institute's vision, mission, execution plans and training programs until the year 2020 for male and female section. That is to be added to the tasks and assigned role of the institute in linking the university and its academic and research outcomes and other sectors such as Wadi Makkah company besides the significant role of the institute in embracing businesses, supporting them to becoming startups and achieving the knowledge-based economy.    

 

Further, the latest updates, annual report and strategic plan of the Intellectual Property Management Office were reviewed so as for the office to become a key supporter in obtaining patent protection for the research outcomes.

 

For his part, the UQU Vice President for Development and Entrepreneurship Dr. Hani Ghazi extended his thanks and appreciation to UQU President for his continuous support provided for the activities of the institute and the office of intellectual property. He also praised the Dean of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute Dr. Mowfaq Oreijah for the significant efforts made for the success of the institute's future plan and his professional work to keep pace with the accelerating developments in the fields of entrepreneurship, innovation, and creativity. 

 

In turn, Dr. Oreijah said the institute's initiatives are progressing successfully according to the set executive plan of each one of them and were lauded by the Vision Realization Office (VRO) of the Ministry of Education indicating that two initiatives were approved within the events of " How to be a Role Model" as outstanding and sustainable initiatives. He then lauded support of UQU President and UQU Vice President for Development and Entrepreneurship for the attention paid to create the outstanding and creative environment in the institute.
