The Deanship of Information Technology at Umm Al-Qura University celebrated on Tuesday 8 Rabia Al-Akher 1439AH, corresponding with 26 December 2017, Dr. Majid bin Mohammed Al-Githami, the former Dean of Information Technology. The celebration was held in the presence of UQU President, Dr. Bakri bin Maatouk Assass, UQU Vice Presidents, Deans of Colleges and Supporting Deanships, the Dean of Information Technology; Dr. Fahd Al-Dosary, in addition to the vice-deans and college staff. The celebration was held at King Abdul-Aziz Supporting Hall.

The ceremony started with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. Afterwards, Dr. Bakri bin Maatouk Assass delivered a speech in which he praised Dr. Al-Githami, and the distinct developed achievements of the Deanship of Information Technology in terms of its electronic services; which have contributed to facilitating the administrative and financial dealings electronically. He also praised the achievements in terms of developing the admission and registration procedures, pointing out that UQU is blessed with excellent academic competencies in various fields. They have contributed to the advancement of the university on all levels thanks to God and the support of the wise leadership, making the university one of the most prestigious universities. Dr. Assass also praised the efforts of UQU Vice Presidents, College Deans, and deanships.

Dr. Hani bin Othman Ghazi, the Vice President of UQU for Development and Entrepreneurship, has delivered a speech, praising the achievements of Dr. Al-Githami and the staff of the Deanship of Information Technology for their distinguished achievements, with the support and care of Dr. Assass given to developing the university’s e-services. He extended his thanks to Dr. Majid Al-Qothmi, Dr. Fahd Al-Dosary, and the staff of the deanship for their efforts and keenness to hold this celebration in expression of their appreciation and thanks to Dr. Al-Githami.

The Dean of Information Technology, Dr. Fahd Al-Dosry, delievered a speech where he briefly mentioned the efforts of Dr. Al-Githami and the Information Technology Deanship team. He emphasized that the achievements of the deanship are proof of the excellence of Dr. Al-Githami in terms of his leadership of the deanship and developing its e-services. He wished him success over the upcoming phase.

For his part, Dr. Majid Al-Githami extended his thanks and appreciation for the President and  Vice-Presidents of the University for their continuous trust and support, which eventually resulted in developing the services of the Information Technology Deanship and making many achievements. He also extended his appreciation for the efforts of the Vice Deans and the staff of the deanship, who were all great support to him during his work in the deanship. He wished luck to Dr. Fahd Al-Dosary and the staff of the deanship to develop the university's e-services.

The speech of the staff of the Information Technology Deanship was delivered on their behalf by the Vice Dean of Information Technology for Electronic Dealings, Dr. Atif Al-Hojaily. The staff extended ther thanks and appreciation to Dr. Al-Githami for his good treatment and cooperation with everybody in terms of implementing tasks throughout the period they worked together as one team, and also for spreading the spirit of enthusiasm, familiarity and love among the staff members.
