The President of Umm Al-Qura University, Dr. Bakri bin Maatouk Assass granted today certificates to the Vice Presidents, Deans of Colleges and Institutes, as well as faculty members, at the end of their participation in training workshops within the training program implemented by the UQU Vice Presidency for Development and Entrepreneurship, represented in the Deanship of Development and Qualitative Quality for academic year 1438/1439AH. The certificates were granted to them for their participation in writing and wording the university's strategic plan. Handing in the certificates took place at the Deanship Training Hall at the UQU Campus in Al-Abideya.
UQU President has congratulated everybody on the success of these training programs to prepare the UQU staff, including Vice Presidents, Deans, employees and even students, for actively taking part in putting forward the university’s strategic plans. He emphasized the importance and the role of all sectors of the university and its workers in drawing the future plan of the university through strategic planning, as well as preparing the steps to follow. The steps start with planning, to forming the strategic planning team, then analyzing, discussing the weakness and strength points as well as the opportunities and challenges, and measuring performance indicators; all with the aim of creating implementation plans.
Dr. Assass expressed his thanks and appreciation for the Vice President of the University for Development and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Hani bin Othman Ghazi, as well as for the Dean of Development and Qualitative Quality, Dr. Mohamed bin Jaafar Thabit. Dr. Assass also thanked the accredited trainer and expert in Strategic Planning, Dr. Ayman Jawharji for his efforts in this regard.
For his part, the UQU Vice President for Development and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Ghazi, said that the UQU Vice Presidency for Development and Entrepreneurship, represented in the Deanship for University Development and Qualitative Quality, targets through the training program all the university staff, including Vice Presidents, Deans of Colleges and institutions, supporting deanships, vice deans, faculty members, administration managers, and employees at both the girls and boys sections. This training program was the fruit of the effort of the UQU Vice Presidency for Development and Entrepreneurship, represented in the Deanship for Development and Qualitative Quality for academic year 1438/1439AH to prepare and train 570 persons of the university staff to take part in writing and wording the strategic planning.
They include 200 employees, 170 students, and 200 faculty members. Dr. Ghazi pointed out that the first and second phases of the program have already been implemented, and there is only the third and final phase of the program remaining. It is planned to start with the beginning of the second semester.
He explained that these training programs are considered a first step to put forward the university’s strategic plan and follow up its implementation in reality in the future. He also noted that these training programs, which will continue for over 60 days, are considered some of the first standards among the university’s institutional accreditation standards. He expected the university to obtain its institutional accreditation within the next 10 months.
For his part, Dr. Mohamed Jaafar Thabit extended his thanks and appreciation for Dr. Assass, the UQU President, and Dr. Ghazi for their support and continuous follow-up of all the programs provided by the Deanship for Development and Qualitative Quality, with the aim of achieving the desired goals for the advancement of UQU, its outputs, services, learning and educational programs offered to the country and citizens.
