Dr. Bakri bin Maatouq Assas, President of Umm Al-QuraUniversity (UQU), approved the dates of the admission program for postgraduate studies for the academic year 1439-1440H. The dates were determined by the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies at the University to beas of 1st Rabi’I 1439H.
This was during the meeting held by Dr. Assas on Thursday, 20th Safar 1439H at his office in the Abediyah-based University City. The meeting was attended by Dr. Thamer bin Hemdan Al-Harbi (UQU Vice-President forPostgraduate Studies), Dr. Sa’eed Abdurrahman Al-Harithi (Dean of Postgraduate Studies Deanship), the vice-deans of Postgraduate Studies Deanship, as well as the vice-deans of colleges for postgraduate studies. During the meeting, UQU President was briefed on the vision of the plan and stages of admission to postgraduate studies for the next academic year 1439/1440H.
In a speech, Dr. Assas stressed the significance of applying the conditions and regulations stipulated in the admissions process, equality among all applicants, and non-complacency in this aspect. He also urged everyoneto end all procedures, and to fulfill all the applicants’required documents for postgraduate studies.
In the same context, Dr. Assas appreciated the efforts exerted by Dr. Thamer Al-Harbi, the Dean and the Vice-Deans of Postgraduate Studies Deanship and the vice-deans of colleges for postgraduate studies to serve UQU students. He also referred to the services offered by the government of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and HRH the Crown Prince (May Allah save both of them!) toeducation in the homeland of goodness and development.He also appreciated their continuous support to Saudi universities, especially UQU.
On the other hand, Dr. Sa’eed Al-Harithi stressed in his presentation the significance of the continuation of the Deanship to support the teaching assistants and lecturers of Saudi universities by giving them priority in admission. He added that this was according to KSA Vision 2030 which aimed to increase the number of the qualified.
Within the same framework, Dr. Sa’eed Al-Harithiexplained that the acceptance process would proceed in several stages. It would begin with submittingapplications electronically through the admission portal, and then auditing applications in the scientific sections, in accordance with the conditions announced in the admission guide, which will be announced through the website of the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies. This would be followed by the written and oral exams and then the final nominations for admission. He also pointed out that all admission procedures would be finalized by the end of the second semester of the academic year 1439-1440H. He explained that this was in order forcandidates concerned especially at the PhD stage to be able to bring the scholarship resolutions that met the full-time requirement for the study stipulated in the Regulations and confirmed by the University Council.
In turn, Dr. Suleiman Ahmad As-Sa’eed, Vice-Dean of Postgraduate Studies Deanship for Admission, demonstrated general statistics on postgraduate students for the year 1438-1439H. He said that 3265 students were regular students and 887 were graduates. This was while 1235 students were new, 199 of which were teaching assistants and lecturers at 25 Saudi universities, in addition to 296 government employees in various sectors.
