Dr. Bakri bin Maatouq Assas, President of Umm Al-Qura University (UQU), toured the research laboratories at the Science and Technology Unit on Wednesday, 5^th Safar 1439H. He visited a number of research laboratories that served the medical specializations in UQU. Moreover, he was accompanied by Dr. Abdurrahman Al-Ahdal (Dean of Scientific Research and Head of the Science and Technology Unit), Dr. Emad Flimban (the Vice-Dean), Dr. Ahmad Eshi (Dean of the College of Applied Medical Sciences), his vice-deans, as well as a number of officials.

The tour included the research laboratories that served some of the medical colleges. Besides, Dr. Assas reviewed the progress of research and the efforts of the researchers, the mechanism of medical specimens’ preservation, and the house of experimental animals.

Dr. Assas also listened to a detailed explanation by Dr. Abdurrahman Al-Ahdal of such laboratories and devices, including their functions, benefits to the enhancement of the experiences and skills of medical affiliates and researchers, and needs.

At the end of the tour, Dr. Assas commended the distinctive role played by researchers to serve the scientific objectives of UQU, especially in the medical domain, and also for the benefit of medical colleges’ students from such laboratories and technologies in a way that enriched their experiences. He also pointed out to the support, care and follow-up given to UQU by the Saudi wise leadership, may Allah save it, and HE Dr. Ahmad bin Muhammad Al-Isa, the Minister of Education, with the aim to render UQU in line with the prestigious universities.
