ABSTRACT: Deep learning has become a very hot research area in machine learning with a remarkable success in computer vision, web services, computer security, software engineering, biology, bioinformatics, and many other fields. Recently, various deep learning models such as deep neural networks, convolutional neural networks, deep belief network, and deep autoencoder have been applied to solve computer vision tasks in supervised learning, unsupervised learning, and semi supervised learning using big data. From the literature, deep learning models have achieved the state-of-the-art performance among non-deep learning models in many tasks. In this talk, I will briefly introduce deep learning models. Then, I will talk about some of my research works mainly in face detection and face recognition using deep learning and big data. Experimental results show that deep learning is very promising for many computer vision applications. Future research directions in this exciting area will be highlighted
