Umm Al-Qura University President, Dr. Barky bin Maatouq Assas, has launched the Housing Department E-portal on Thursday, 29/06/1437 Hijri, that will allow beneficials of the University housing services to request their needs electronically. The event, that was held in the University President office in Al-Abidiah, was attended by the University Vice-President for Branches, Dr. Mohamed bin Wasel Al-Hazemi, University Vice-President for Academic Development and Community Service, Dr. Hany bin Othman Ghazy, Supervisor of Project Management and Planning, Dr. Wadei Barqawi, Head of Deanship of Information Technology, Dr. Maged Al-Qothami, deputies of the Deanship of Information Technology, Head of the Housing Department, Khaled Al-Jam’I and employees of the University Vice-Presidency for Branches and the Housing Department.

In the beginning, Dr. Al-Hazemi, the Vice-President for Branches, said that the new website will allow staff members to make electronic use of the housing, operation and maintenance services provided by the Department and will also allow applying housing requests by doctors and dentists. A staff member can make his housing request application through any computer to the e-portal, he said noting that this aims at facilitating procedures and eliminating paper work procedures.

The Housing Department plays a positive role in preparing the faculties buildings in different branches. Dr. Al-Hazemi also valued the support of the University President, Dr. Bakry bin Maatouq Assas, for the Housing Department what made it capable of providing the best services to the beneficials. He also praised the efforts exerted by the Head of the Housing Department, Khaled Al-Jam’I, and all its employees.

In his speech, Mr. Khaled Al-Jam’I, Head of the Housing Department, talked about the achievements of the Department, saying that 224 staff members were housed in all the fully-prepared housing villas carried out in the University City in Al-Abidiah. Work is under progress in about more 400 housing villas, he noted expressing his gratitude to the support of the University President, Dr. Bakry bin Maatouq Assas, and the University Vice-President for Branches, Dr. Mohammed bin Wasel Al-Hazemi, that enabled the Housing Department to present such high-quality services to its beneficials.

The University President then announced the launch of the Housing Department E-portal, confirming that it will save time and effort of staff members, what will be positively reflected on their scientific and educational performance. Our staff members are the backbone of the educational process and the basis of its academic performance, so providing them with all facilities and means of comfort will play a role in developing the University’s performance and improving the quality of its graduate, which is the main focus of the University in different fields, he added.

The University President also praised the great attention and support Umm Al-Qura University receives from the government of His Majesty the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and from the Crown Prince, and the Deputy Crown Prince, may God protect them. He also thanked the Vice-President for Branches, Dr. Al-Hazemi and the Head of the Housing Department, Khaled Al-Jam’I for the efforts they exert to provide the best services to the staff members.
