Scholarship Dentistry Student Makes a Number of Achievements in Community Dentistry

UQU President, Dr. Bakri bin Ma'touq Assas congratulated scholarship dentistry student, Alaa Quary for her international significant accomplishments and the awards she received during her scholarship at University of Boston. Assas wished her and all scholarship students success and good luck so that they benefit community with their achievements in the different domains.

Quary was chosen among international talents in UNLEASH program, which hosts participants from 129 countries. This program is a world lab for thinking innovation that serves the UN sustained growth objectives. It focuses on 7 goals. Quary's project was discussed within the third goal of the program. Quary also won in the MIT Grand Hack, 2017 that featured participants from over 20 countries. She formed a team that included UQU faculty member, Dr. Khalid Abu Al-Shamat and another Italian specialist known as Flouriano to discuss a problem she raised in oral health. It's noteworthy that their project on Teledentistry bagged J&J Excellence Award.

Additionally, Quary was part of another team that presented strategic plans proposal to the North East Telehealth Resource Center - NETRC, Maine USA with the aim of raising doctors' awareness of using telemedicine techniques to help patients in remote villages in Massachusetts. She designed the preliminary structure of Tele-T and the prototype for its app. Tele-T offers various educational units to doctors on telemedicine. Quary presented the project during a video conference by NETRC. Tele-T project was recommended by College of Public Health, University of Boston and accepted as academic poster at the American Public Health Association conference which takes place in Nov.

In a competition across University of Boston in early 2017, Quary's team won first place for presenting strategies to motivate residents with limited income to use local health programs. The project was commended at the regular meeting of faculty members of Public Health, University of Boston after presentation of its highlights.

Quary was invited to speak at an event organized by the Saudi cultural attaché for scholarship students in Boston, USA. She also spoke at an event for youth leaders and dentists at North Eastern University, where she addressed leadership and exploring skills.
