University Medical Center Marks World Health Day

UQU Vice-President Dr. Yasser bin Sulleiman Shosho and Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Dr. Thamir bin Hamdan al-Harbi have opened activities marking the World Health Day that was held under the theme "Beat Diabetes".

The event was attended by Head of the University Medical Center Dr. Yasser bin Hassan Bahakim, Director-General of UQU Press Mr. Fahd bin Hindi Al Sharif, Assistant to head of the center for administrative affairs Mr. Hassan Shaweesh and Head of Internal Monitoring Unit at the center Mr. Samir Banjar.

Specialist Saleh Ba-Jammal and the team members gave the attendees a presentation on the details of the event. Addressing the participants, Dr. Shosho said the center is playing a key preventive role by means of a package of awareness messages that are being sent for the UQU employees and their families during the event to inform them about the chronic and common diseases. He asserted health education is a main pillar of the umbrella of prevention which saves people from developing diseases.

In the same context, Dr. Bahakim said awareness activities would be organized on the sidelines of the event. The center would open door for its outpatients to make diabetes tests on Wednesday and Thursday, Rajab 27-28, 1437H, he said, adding a corner for illustrative tools, posters, brochures and screens would be available. These tools would keep the patient informed with the details of the diabetes and the preventive measures which would be introduced by the center's physicians, he added.

The head of the center thanked Dr. Shosho and Dr. al-Harbi for their active participation in the event and the programs set by the center to mark the World Health Day. Also, he hailed President of Umm Al Qura University Dr. Bakri Bin M'atoog Bin Bakri Assas for helping the center to improve preventive measures and services. Dr. Bahakim extended thanks to the university press and the employees of the center who are the main planner of the event.
