UQU President Receives English Version of Makkah Digital Atlas

President of Umm Al-Qura University Dr. Bakri bin M'atooq bin Bakri Assas received the English version of the historical reference " the Digital Atlas of Makkah and the Holy Sites" in its first edition and English version from the Advisor to the UQU Vice President for Business and innovation, the visiting Professor at Harvard University Dr. Meraj Mirza. Present in the meeting which took place at Dr. Assas's office in Abdiya was the acting UQU Vice President for Business and innovation Dr. Hani bin Osman Ghazi.

 

He listened to an elaborate presentation on the book which was co-authored by Dr. Meraj Mirza, Dr. Abdullah Shawoosh and Mr. Mohamed Meraj Mirza. The book is reckoned a historical reference and depicts the history of Makkah and the holy sites from the 5th Hijri century until the first half of the 15th century. He explained that the documentary and historical reference came in to editions, the first one in Arabic language and the second one in English language and was published by King Abdul Aziz Foundation for Research and Archives affirming that two copies of the book in English and Arabic versions were deposited in the British Museum and the Congress Library in USA  to become a reference for the scientists and researchers interested in this regard.  

 

On this occasion, Dr. Meraj Mirza expressed his thanks and appreciation to UQU President Dr. Bakri Assas for his support and permanent encouragement for any achievement made by this scientific edifice or by the scholars and researchers of this blessed country in general and those who belong to this  prestigious university in particular.  

 

Meanwhile, Dr. Assas expressed his pride in this documentary and historical reference praising the blessed efforts exerted by the authors to come out  with this book and the included illustrious narrative of the history of Makkah and the Holy Sites  for a period of time of about one thousand year. 

 

He added that geographical and scientific status of the university has enabled the university to assume a prestigious position amongst the international and local universities depending on its scientists and the university will continue in providing its different scientific, research and community tasks in the most convenient manner possible in line with the directives and aspirations of the rulers of this country.

 

He then expressed his thanks and appreciation to Dr. Meraj Mirza, Dr. Abdullah Shawoosh and Mr. Mohamed Meraj Mirza and wished them all success in their future endeavors.
