University of Umm Al-Qura (UQU) in collaboration with King Abdul-Aziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (MAWHIBA) launched the activities of Mawhiba Summer Enrichment Program 2017 in its 12 version at Umm Al-Qura University for 100 female students in the first and second years of the secondary school. The program which is held this year under slogan of "Where Talents Grows", will last until Dhul-Qe'dah 25 1438 H at the Deanship of Preparatory Year, Medical Stream for female students, Abdyia Campus. It includes five streams in the fields of encryption, chemistry in the community, advanced physics, Biological and Medical Sciences Entry and Bio technology.
Meanwhile, Head of Mawhiba program at UQU, who serves also as a faculty member in the Medicine College Dr. Hiba bint Saeed Al-Amoudi said "Providing care for talented students and appreciating them in line with their capabilities, has become a fundamental educational strategy in todays' communities". She branded them as a national wealth saying that King Abdul-Aziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity in collaboration with UQU are very keen to organize this program on annual bases believing that talents deserves an outstanding care in line with their needs, aptitudes and capabilities.
She added that the program targets 100 female students in the first and second years of the secondary schools and endeavors to develop their cognitive, skill, personal and social capacities and boost their higher thinking skills besides their problems solving ability taking the advantage of Umm Al-Qura facilities and its capabilities including; labs, study rooms, training halls available at the Deanship of Preparatory year, Medical Stream and the laboratories of the College of Medicine.
Further, she said "this year 5 streams are approved in the fields of encryption, chemistry in the community, advanced physics, Biological and Medical Sciences Entry and Bio technology in line with the Kingdom Vision 2030 and in support of the transformation to the knowledge and innovation based community.
Concluding her speech, she valued the directives of the UQU President Dr. Bakri Assas and his support to all programs and activities provided by the university to all segments of the community. She also extended her thanks and appreciation to the Dean of University Studies for Girls Dr. Hala Al-Amoudi for her support to carry out this program in its 12th year extending her thanks also to Deanship of Preparatory year, medical stream to host this year's program and to King Abdul-Aziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (MAWHIBA) for the support provided to such summer programs.
