On 21/07/1437H, HE UQU President Dr. Bakri Bin Maatouq Assas launched at the Abedia campus library the summer internship venue for university students with Wadi Makkah for Technology startups, under the supervision of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institution at the Valley of Makkah, in the presenece of UQU Vice-President of Cognitive and Creative Work, Dr. Nabil bin Abdulkader Koshk, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institution Dean Dr. Wadei Barkawi and the Wadi Makkah for Technology CEO, Dr. Osama bin Rashid Al-Omari.
After the launch, HE UQU President Dr. Bakri Bin Maatouq Assas stated that making such programs available to the male and female university students help in developing their talents and enriching their knowledge by transforming their innovative ideas into investment projects and products. He stressed that UQU is seeking to improve all its educational institutions by preparing the suitable scientific environment for all students.
UQU Vice-President of Cognitive and Creative Work, Dr. Nabil bin Abdulkader Koshk, advised that after the great success achieved by the summer internship for innovation in the past years in Britain, Japan and the USA, this year’s program will take place in the Wadi Makkah for Technology, through which the participating students will acquire technical and practical skills by working in the Wadi Makkah for Technology startups.
Wadi Makkah for Technology CEO, Dr. Osama bin Rashid Al-Omari, stated that all university students, without exception, have the opportunity to participate in the program. He clarified that accepted students will be distributed to the startups in Wadi Makkah, in order to work in the technical field and business development in a real business environment, so that the interns practice the needed skills, such as modeling skills, developing embedded system, electronics, marketing, business development, design and programming.
Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institution Dean Dr. Wadei Barkawi stated that the program is supervised by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institution and Wadi Makkah for Technology. The training will be extended to the interns by a number of expert trainers in this technical field to give students the needed experiences. He expressed his gratefulness for the support and care given by UQU President Dr. Bakri Bin Maatouq Assas and UQU Vice-President of Cognitive and Creative Work, Dr. Nabil bin Abdulkader Koshk, Wadi Makkah for Technology CEO, Dr. Osama bin Rashid Al-Omari and their keenness to develop a suitable environment for UQU students.
