President of Umm Al Qura University (UQU) Dr. Bakri Bin M'atoog Bin Bakri Assas affirms that launching the  Moderation Center - Etidal in Arabic - to combat extremism, by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud - may Allah protect him, the US President Donald Trump, and leaders of the Arab and Islamic sates, as well as choosing the Kingdom to be the headquarter of the Center, which proves that KSA has assumed a leading position among countries combating extremism. In fact, KSA has an experience in combating terrorism through Mohammed Bin Naif Center for Counseling and Care. where extremist thinking is confounded by the moderate one. The Center also offers rehabilitation programs to gradually integrate misled youth again into society.”, added Dr. Assas.

 Dr. Assas also stated, “The Moderation Center will contribute to combating terrorism and extremist thinking using Hi-Tech technologies. As well, the Center plays a key role in collecting information on terrorist organizations, individuals, groups, and their supporting bodies, both financially and intellectually, then sharing such data with member states; thus, driving the international community to track and monitor such groups and their schemes. The Center is a key player in the global endeavors in the forthcoming stage.”

“This global “Moderation Center” stands as the cornerstone of tracking such organizations through an effective strategy set by member states to root out the extremist ideology and its promoters who insidiously seek to exploit the nation’s youth to fulfill their own personal agenda and interests while hiding the true face behind the banner of religion.”, stressed Dr. Assas.

He also added; “In that way, the Center derives its importance. All countries of the world should play the role of the Center, to achieve its desired objectives, that is to say to protect humanity from such a plague that spares none.”
