The five-day activities of the “New Students Forum” for the academic year 1443 A.H., which was organized last week by Umm Al-Qura University, represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs, were concluded via the electronic platform under the slogan: “A Safe Return”. The forum was held under the auspices of the UQU President, Prof. Moaddi bin Muhammad Aal Madh-hab, and with the participation of the university’s deanships, colleges and departments.

On his part, the President of the University welcomed the new students in Umm Al-Qura University, glad that they are joining their creative fellow students in the university education journey and stressing that they are the ambitious generation of the nation and the basis of its development and progress in various fields. Moreover, he expressed his wish to meet with them in person to congratulate them, but out of concern for their safety and in line with the precautionary measures taken by the university regarding coronavirus, the university preferred to hold the forum remotely.

The Vice President of the University for Educational Affairs, Dr. Amer Al-Zaidi, emphasized the keenness of the university to present the forum in an interactive way and facilitate access for students to the electronic platform over the five days. The first and second days were dedicated to the support entities that serve the students, in addition to the Deanship of Student Affairs and its programs, student clubs, and the ways to join them. The rest of the days were dedicated to the academic colleges.

In turn, the Vice President of the University for Student Affairs, Dr. Wardah Al-Asmari, noted that the forum included direct meetings with representatives of colleges and university authorities to enable students to ask their inquiries and benefit from the information provided to them.

Moreover, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Dhiyab Al-Maliki, explained that the forum serves as a step and an essential pillar in the life of the new university student. This is because it introduces the student services that help the students' engagement in the educational environment and acquaints them with their own rights and duties in the various UQU units and departments, which contribute to their engagement to ensure their continued success and excellence at various levels.
