Holding a Forum at Umm Al-Qura University to Enhance the Skills of Teaching English in General and University Education

Within the framework of its role in supporting the educational process and professional development, the UQU English Language Center launched a forum to enhance the skills of teaching English in the twenty-first century for the staff members of both general and university education. The forum was held via a virtual platform and continued for three days, with the aim of enhancing the teachers' language outputs.

The UQU Vice President for Educational Affairs, Dr. Amer Al-Zaidi, stressed the importance of learning and mastering English besides the mother tongue, as it is an important prerequisite for different fields of work and for dealing with different nationalities. In addition, Dr. Amer Al-Zaidi referred to the importance of the integrity of the educational system in order to enrich the educational community with development meetings and programs, in collaboration with specialized centers. The aim of this is to fulfill the development objectives of the education sector in line with the main objectives of the Saudi Vision 2030.

The Director of the Center, Dr. Sahar Al-Zahrani, stated that the forum was attended on its first day by approximately 1000 teachers from inside and outside Saudi Arabia. The forum included workshops on teaching English, starting from the methods of enhancing the teachers' language and then the strategies that are based on the latest theories of teaching English effectively. It also introduced the methods of evaluation and the practical and advanced methods of teaching English. In addition, Dr. Sahar appreciated the approval of the UQU Vice President for Educational Affairs, Amer Al-Zaidi, to hold the forum as well as his follow-up of the programs offered by the center and his continuous support of the center's staff members.

At the end of the forum, the Deputy Director of the English Language Center, Dr. Nawal Al-Zahrani, extended her thanks to the presenters of the workshops as well as the attendees for their interaction with the program. Moreover, she stressed that the outcomes of the forum will contribute to developing the teaching skills of the participants in line with the latest educational methods.
