Umm Al-Qura University, represented by the Deanship of Admission and Registration, announced the launch of the Academic Acceleration Program for a number of academic courses for the male and female students. The program has been launched under the slogan: “Because You Are Talented”, in cooperation with the National Center for Assessment at the Education and Training Evaluation Commission, with the aim of creating a stimulating learning environment that supports creativity and innovation.
The UQU President, Prof. Moaddi bin Muhammad Aal Madh-hab, praised the support and care that Umm Al-Qura University receives from the wise leadership, may Allah support it, which enabled it to excel in developing its academic system in order to keep pace with the leading educational institutions. He noted the support and backing of His Excellency the Minister of Education, Dr. Hamad Al Al-Sheikh, and the Deputy Minister for Universities, Research, and Innovation, Dr. Muhammad Al-Sudairi, of the development plans for the educational system.
Prof. Moaddi Aal Madh-hab stated that the Academic Acceleration Program for academic courses aims to invest in the students’ talents and abilities and is a positive indicator of the flexibility of the education system at Umm Al-Qura University, according to the highest quality standards. He pointed out that it allows the university student to progress in the studies according to his/her mental capabilities and achievements.
In his turn, the UQU Vice President for Educational Affairs, Dr. Amer Al-Zaidi, said that this program takes into account the individual differences between the students, giving those who are highly motivated the opportunity to excel, via the tests conducted by the National Center for Assessment at the Education and Training Evaluation Commission. The program also meets the needs of the gifted and talented students with regard to their academic achievements, enhances the quality of education in line with recent developments, and improves the efficient spending of the university's resources.
Moreover, Dr. Al-Zaidi stated that the program’s outputs lie in shortening the student’s study period, reducing tuition costs, and preparing highly qualified students who are able to face challenges, realize ambitions, adapt to developments, develop their skills in line with advanced knowledge, and know how to use information and apply it practically.
The Dean of Admission and Registration, Dr. Khaled Al-Thaqafi, revealed the requirements for admitting students in the Academic Acceleration Program: the applicant should be a student of Umm Al-Qura University, be chosen from the applicants for the academic acceleration program, implement the program procedures, register for the course exams for the Academic Acceleration Program through the National Center for Assessment, attend the virtual introductory program introducing the academic acceleration courses, and enter the Academic Acceleration Program course exams through the National Center for Assessment.
Dr. Al-Thaqafi added that the program, in its first phase, will be applied to the study plans for the Joint First Year and then later on all theoretical and practical study plans within the UQU Comprehensive Program Transformation.
