Overview
The Department of Pharmaceutics is concerned with the study of pharmaceutical sciences that deals with formulating an active pharmaceutical ingredient into a medicine which can be taken safely and effectively. Many chemicals have pharmacological properties, but they need to be processed and formulated to achieve therapeutic goals. Therefore, pharmacology and the sciences that fall under it focus on studying all stages of formulating the active substance into appropriate drug doses to be taken and administered to the specified part of the body and also focuses on studying the results of taking the drug.
Objectives
Preparing pharmacists who have mastered the sciences and skills needed to:
- Understand the various pharmaceutical processes used during drug manufacturing.
- Pursue the pharmacist profession in pharmaceutical factories to work on developing pharmaceutical products industrially.
- Manage pharmaceutical research concerned with developing new and innovative medicines.
- Cover the needs of hospital pharmacies with pharmacists who are able to manage the departments that prepare intravenous solutions and formulations.
- Work in governmental and private organizations in the fields of food and medicine.
