Abstract
This research is an attempt to understand the methodology employed by prominent scholars in defining jurisprudential terminology by referring them back to the language of the Qur'an and Sunnah. The research aims to: Clarify the concept of examining jurisprudential terminology in the context of the language of the Qur'an and Sunnah according to Ibn Taymiyyah. Identify the general features of his applied methodology and the principles and rules he applies to various branches of jurisprudence. Explore the impact of examining jurisprudential terminology in the language of the Qur'an and Sunnah on the jurisprudence of Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah. The research findings include the following: The principle of referring terminologies back to the language of the Qur'an and Sunnah is a governing principle in the intellectual output of Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah. This scholarly and cognitive principle has produced foundations and principles that can be relied upon in understanding jurisprudential terminology. ]One of the reasons for the differences among scholars in many issues is the failure to prioritize this principle in jurisprudential terminology. It is emphasized that the application of this principle leads to profound jurisprudential insights and innovative effects.
