Abstract
The ancienf rivalry between the Grandfather and Collaterals in the law of Inheritance remained an issue of concern up till today. While the divergence of Muslim Jurists, evidenced and restated the positions of Saḥābah on the issue, contemporary writers have attempted to justify, albeit inappropriate and without basis, either of the positions maintained by the early jurists. As this attempt may sway researchers and students of knowledge from the exact resilience of the early jurists while deciding this case, this paper through doctrinal approach, review and restate the competition of grandfather and collaterals in summary, prevailing the exact position of early jurists. It found that, there is no better justification for the positions of the early jurists than the closeness and connections of grandfather and collaterals to the deceased heir, which remained and must be left indecisive.
