Abstract
Western thinkers have several definitions of religion. Their definitions include desperate attempts to deviate from the canonical concept of religion. Definitions of religion vary according to the different perspectives and purposes of studying religion. This research came to clarify its concept from the point of view of Marcia Eliade and its reliance on rituals and myths. The importance of this topic appears in the fact that it demonstrates the extent of the intellectual turmoil occurring in the West, especially in the fields of human and religious studies. This research aims to clarify the features of Marcia Eliade’s view of religion. The research dealt with defining the school of ritual and myth and her position on religion, introducing Marcia Eliade, clarifying religion and its components accord-ing to him, Islam’s position on it, Eliade’s position on divinity, prophecy, and resurrection, and then applications of Eliade. “For his theory on Islam - presentation and criticism - in a way that demonstrates his and those who follow his deviation from the correct Islamic concept of religion. Eliade concluded that religion, in its essence, is an expression of the relationship with the sacred, and the manifestations of this sanctifi-cation, and he considered the history of religions to be an accumulation of this sanctity. Religion, according to his claim, is nothing but an expression of the relationship with the sacred, and the history of interaction with it, recorded in myths that give us a perception of The first interactions, which will be standard for defining the relationship with the sacred in the entire history of humanity.
