Abstract
The research aims to clarify the meaning of the total interpretation, its importance and its forms, and to highlight the total interpretation according to al-Tabari, while mentioning applications of his total interpretation through his interpretation of Surat Al Imran. Through this research, I reached results including that the total interpretation is: a brief presentation of the meaning of the verse or verses in a sentence. It is clear and easy to understand, without going into any further details, and the importance of Al-Tabari’s overall interpretation is due to its scientific status and the status of its interpretation. There are words that Al-Tabari mentions that indicate the overall meaning. He also has a distinct methodology in presenting the overall interpretation, and Al-Tabari cited the overall interpretation in multiple forms.
