Empowering Umm Al-Qura University to gain access to a safe and reliable cyberspace.
Overview
The decision of the UQU President to establish the General Administration of Cybersecurity was issued on 17 Jumada Al-Thani 1441 A.H., corresponding to 12 February 2020 A.C. The unit is a separate administration that aims to apply the best international standards in following the rules imposed by the National Cybersecurity Authority in order to raise the security level at the university.
Strategic Objectives
- Introducing the UQU affiliates to the correct policies and procedures related to cybersecurity that should be applied within the university.
- Raising the level of awareness among UQU affiliates and introducing them to the correct practices expected of them regarding the use of university technical resources.
- Raising the level of awareness among UQU affiliates regarding the correct use of technology.
- Building a framework through which the university, with the cooperation of its affiliates, can protect its information assets from external and internal risks.
- Ensuring continuity and safety of the work of the technology system at the university and the protection of the privacy of data and information associated with it.
Mission
The General Administration of Cybersecurity seeks to enhance and improve levels of commitment to national and international cybersecurity standards, maintain technical assets at Umm Al-Qura University and protect them from internal and external cyber risks, confront threats and reduce cyber risks, maintain data confidentiality and integrity from manipulation, and ensure the availability of all this to the beneficiaries on an ongoing basis.
