Yes, the student has the right to enter the second round exam, provided that the total academic courses he has not passed do not exceed 10 courses.
Students who do not pass any course in the program after the second round tests are conducted shall be transferred to other majors that do not apply the program based on a mechanism approved by the Deanship of Admission and Registration.
After the end of the second semester’s final exams; and the dates of tests will be announced on the page of the Deanship News.
The second round test is the student's last chance to pass the course, and there will be no alternative test for the second round.
1- Medical Stream: medicine and surgery, dental and oral surgery, pharmacy, nursing, laboratory medicine, physiotherapy, anesthesia technology, medical emergency services, respiratory care, health information management and technology, health education and promotion, environmental health, and epidemiology. 2- Scientific Stream: electrical engineering, computer engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science and information systems. 3- Administrative Stream: business administration, accounting, marketing, tourism and hospitality management, and Hajj and Umrah management.
The allocation of all students who have passed the Preparatory Year Program shall be on the basis of the comparison approved by the Deanship of Admission and Registration after the end of the examination period according to the academic calendar of the second semester.
Article 94 of the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities at Umm Al Qura University stipulates that the student must wear the Saudi garment during his presence in the university, except in cases where other clothes are required such as in the official sports activities and laboratories. Therefore, the student must adhere to the Saudi garment and the academic member at the Deanship of Preparatory Year is entitled to prevent the student from attending his lecture and to consider him absent in case of violation.
Article 107 of the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities at Umm Al Qura University provides for absolute prohibition of smoking, in terms of consumption, holding, sale, and distribution in all facilities of the University. In case of violation of this bylaw, the student shall be referred to the Disciplinary Committee at the Deanship of Student Affairs, as provided by the code, and shall be held liable for the penalty prescribed therein.
The students of the Preparatory Year Program are distributed to the academic divisions based on the results of the English language placement test, which ensures that the students' levels in English are close to each other in each division for the improvement of the educational outcomes of the English language program. Therefore, it is not allowed for a student to change his division.
The student has the right to withdraw, but is not entitled to transfer except by a decision by the competent authorities in the University and in accordance with the University's applicable rules and regulations.
The scheduled exam dates at the Deanship of the Preparatory Year shall be announced well before the start of the exams through the news page of the Deanship (uqu.edu.sa/pre-edu/news). This page is the official updated reference for everything that is approved by the Deanship of the Preparatory Year, and so the student should periodically follow up this page to get acquainted with the study and exam system in time.
In the event of an emergency condition that prevents a student from attending a lecture, the student, at the earliest opportunity, should go to the Office of Apology Unit in Building 3, the ground floor, to present the case to the Unit Director and make the formal procedures to have an the excuse officially approved.
Regular attendance is an indication of hard work and a motive for developing the learning outcomes of the student. The student must be careful to attend all lectures on time. If the absence rate in a course exceeds 25% of the total lectures during the semester, the student shall not be allowed to pass the course, and thus shall fail the preparatory year program.
The academic member of each course will inform students during the first week of the books and tools needed for the course and the methods of obtaining them.
The student has the right to have his mid-term or final exam scores re-checked within five working days from the date of announcement of the exam result. The student has no right to request a re-mark after the end of this period except by the approval of the Deanship Council. This right shall be waived if the student has already submitted three re-mark requests. To submit a re-mark request, the student must fill in the respective form and submit it to the Office of Academic Affairs at the Deanship.
The student has the right to request postponement of one academic year (two semesters) only for a reasonable excuse before the end of the twelfth week of the semester.
Summer semester is not available in the Preparatory Year Program.
The student is not entitled to excuse himself from completing study in the Preparatory Year Program.
The student who withdraws from the program shall be considered as failing the Preparatory Year, and shall not be enrolled again save by an exception from the deanship council after he provides reasonable excuses to the council.
The student of the Preparatory Year Program does not have the right to transfer from one stream to another unless he passes his current course and fulfills all the conditions of the transfer and then he will enter into competition with others on the seats available for those who wish to transfer.
It means that the student will be denied to enter the final exam and the exams of the second round. A student will be denied a certain course when his absence ratio surpasses 25% of the total hours during the semester.
Yes, if a student neglects attending the practical part for any reason, he will be denied entering the final exam for this course as well as the second round exams, if he has not passed the course.
The Deanship of Admission and Registration gives students a chance to enter their choices via the e-portal at the University website in the middle of the second semester. Students should check the homepage of the Deanship of Admission and Registration to be familiarized with the annual approved regulations.
Umm Al-Qura University holds an annual meeting before the middle of the second semester under the patronage and support of his Excellency the President of the University with the participation of all colleges and departments. This meeting aims at informing students about the available specializations at every stream in the program. The meeting shall precede the period in which they will enter their preferred choices at the e-portal.
The student should head to academic affairs office at the Deanship during the period announced for postponing the study. He should present the following documents: 1- Filling a postponement form and presenting the original document. 2- A letter presented to the Dean of the College including the postponement application and a brief explanation of the causes of postponement. 3- The original documents that prove the causes of postponement. 4- Approval of the legal guardian (for females only). After bringing all the aforementioned documents, the application will be referred to the Deanship Council to be approved. If the Council approves the application, the case will be referred to the Deanship of Admission and Registration to approve the postponement. The application will not be regarded as accepted till the approval is referred to the Deanship of Admission and Registration.
