UQU President Inaugurates 8th Scientific Forum of UQU Students

President of Umm Al-Qura university (UQU) Dr. Bakri bin M'atooq bin Bakri Assas inaugurated on Tuesday Rajab 14, 1438 H events of the 8th scientific forum for the university students organized by the Deanship of Students Affairs at King Abdul-Aziz Historical Hall at the university campus in Abdyia for male and Al-Zahir HQs for females. The ceremony was attended by UQU Vice President for Educational Affairs Dr. Abdul-Aziz bin Rashad Al-Sorouji, Dean of Students Affairs Dr. Taha bin Amro Al-Saggaf, Deans of university colleges and deanships. 


After initiating the ceremony with a Quranic recitation, the Dean of Students Affairs Dr. Amro Al-Saggaf  addressed the audience saying that the objectives of the Ministry of Education necessitate providing training for students on scientific research, innovation, dialogue, discussion, opinions introduction and  work presentations.  

 
He clarified that scientific forums are the most important tools to achieve the mentioned above objectives, develop students capabilities and improve their intellectual and innovative skills in all fields, indicating that the Ministry of Education endeavored through its programs to develop educational process in the universities by activating scientific conferences role, develop students capabilities and upgrade their educational, cultural and skills levels.  

 

He referred to participation statists which proves the importance of the forum and the expansion of its programs this year indicating that the forum received large numbers of participations submitted by male and female students of the university in the scientific themes, accompanying activities, competitions and debates between the different colleges in the both sections of the university. He said that numbers of scientific research amounted to 78 in different specialties, while the innovations amounted to 41 in addition to 16 small projects, 23 outstanding ideas, 10 reports, 30 films, 178 paintings  including; Arabic calligraphy art works and drawings. Whilst, the number of students participants in the different competitions, debates and activities amounted to 272 male and female students. And the number of colleges coordinators amounted to 62 male and female coordinators, in addition to 46 male and female arbitrators.   

     
Concluding his speech, Dr. Al-Saggaf expressed his thanks and appreciation to UQU President and UQU Vice President for Educational Affairs for their support and lasting interest in such scientific conferences and forums. He also extended his thanks to working committee and colleges coordinators for their efforts to make this forum a success. 


After that, UQU President Delivered address lauding the noble patronage of the Custodian of two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz, Crown Prince and the Deputy Crown prince and their lasting keenness to meet requirements and aspirations of this country's youth  so as to activate their developmental role in the community and to benefit from their potentials and capacities taking into account that boosting students scientific capabilities, harnessing their talents and upgrading their innovation levels, are real national investments. He added that the university has realized the importance of the students activities in achieving such developmental role. To that end, he added the university is very keen to support all constructive efforts to highlight such capacities and capabilities owned by our male and female students and to develop them depending on the university's expertise in this regard. 


He went on to add that the scientific forums are reckoned an opportunity for excellent student, and reward and incentive for the contenders to discover their talents and explore their research, technical and innovative capacities in a competitive atmosphere indicating that these annual forums will contribute to making the participants accustomed to such scientific atmospheres and effective participations in and outside the university. Then, he praised efforts exerted by the Vice presidency for Educational Affairs and the Deanship of Students Affairs. He also praised the efforts of the male and female students and their outstanding participation which he sensed at this forum wishing them all success in all fields of knowledge and science in the service of their country and nation.

    
It is worth mentioning here that UQU President launched also the accompanying exhibition of the forum accompanied by the UQU Vice President for Educational Affairs Dr. Abdul-Aziz Al-Sorouji, Dean of Students Affairs Dr. Taha bin Amro Al-Saggaf, and  Deans of the Colleges. He toured the pavilions of the exhibition and listened to an elaborate presentation about the students participations which included; paintings and innovative scientific projects.
