Umm Al-Qura University Participates in the National Vaccination Program Against Coronavirus

Umm Al-Qura University, represented by the College of Public Health and Health Informatics and in cooperation with the Health Cluster and the Public Health Club, participates with 400 volunteers in the ‘National Vaccination Program Against Coronavirus’. The program is being held at King Abdullah Medical City, under the auspices of the Director General of Health Affairs in Makkah Al-Mukarramah Region, Dr. Wael Mutair, and the CEO of the Health Cluster, Dr. Dilshad Ali.

The UQU volunteers are working at the Vaccine Center at the King Abdullah Medical City headquarters, as well as other centers, throughout the two-month duration of the program. Their participation is being conducted according to a specific plan and mechanism for receiving the beneficiaries, making sure of the dates of their doses according to the health application "Sihhati" and continuing to follow them until they are immunized with the vaccine. In addition, they organize and facilitate the movement of visitors.

Their participation is organized with the direct follow-up of the College Vice Dean for Development, Dr. Muhannad Qaroub, the Director of the Community Service Unit at the College of Public Health and Health Informatics, Dr. Salah Al-Din Alawnah, and the Head of the Public Health Club at the Deanship of Student Affairs, Mr. Ahmad Munir Ba'atiyyah.

The Dean of the College of Public Health and Health Informatics, Dr. Mashael bint Saleh Al-Fifi, emphasized that the participation aims to enhance joint cooperation between the educational and health sectors in facing COVID-19, and to achieve the UQU mission through effective partnerships in community service.

In turn, the Deputy Executive Director General at King Abdullah Medical City, Dr. Fawwaz Turkistani, and the Director of the Volunteering Center at King Abdullah Medical City, Mr. Ibrahim Bahuwaireth, praised the efforts of the university to make the program a success, noting the great contributions of its specialized professors and distinguished students. They lauded the effective role of the university in community service, through the volunteer support services, to contribute in the prevention of the spread of the epidemic.
