The Health Academy at the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties has accredited the Teaching Hospital of the College of Dentistry at Umm Al-Qura University as a specialized training center for the Dental Assistant Program. This is a national initiative taken by the commission to supply the labor market with national personnel and qualify health practitioners in the field of dentistry according to specialized academic programs.

The Dean of the College of Dentistry, Dr. Abdul-Aziz Al-Khutani, stated that the accreditation of the teaching hospital to be a training center for the Dentist Assistant Program is evidence of the quality of the college’s outputs and the academic, technical and equipment capabilities that have been provided to the teaching hospital. This is in light of the support provided to the College of Dentistry under the guidance and follow-up of His Excellency the President of the University. Dr. Al-Khutani noted that the college is in the process of increasing the number of educational and qualification programs approved by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties to include the nerve and periodontal programs, and in the future, making preparations to add an orthodontic program.

Dr. Al-Khutani also declared that the members of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties paid a visit to the college, during which they viewed the center's equipment and discussed the capabilities of the teaching hospital and its specialized and well-equipped units.
