His Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Abdullah Bafail, recently met with a number of owners of startups incubated by the growth incubator of Wadi Makkah Investment Company to review their projects and the mechanism of cooperation with them. This took place in the presence of the CEO of Wadi Makkah Technology Company, Prof. Faisal Allaf.
His Excellency was briefed on the company of HNACare, owned by a graduate of Computer Science at the university, Kholoud Al-Qahtani. This company aims to be an economical alternative to health insurance, using digital cards. The cardholder receives discounts of more than 60% in medical specialties, ranging from gynecology, childbirth, surgeries, and analyses, to dental care, cosmetic, sports clubs, and pharmacies. There are more than 300 hospitals and health and beauty centers covered by HNACare in the Western Region.
The project of the graduates of the College of Computing at the university was presented by Eng. Firas Al-Manaa and Eng. Yasin Al-Manaa from the Digital Control Company (Breez), which specializes in providing smart building solutions using high-quality and low-cost technologies. The project started as a college graduation project that had obtained the full mark. It was then developed to be incubated in Wadi Makkah for Investment and officially launched in 2019. Breez provides smart solutions that contribute to improving the general atmosphere of the buildings, enable the user to control all its parts, and monitor electrical consumption and the status of the safety and alarm systems.
The Founding President of Bab Makkah, Mr. Ahmad bin Mahfouz, presented an overview of his company specializing in electronic retail trade, whose mission is to enable local suppliers among the owners of medium and small companies and craftsmen to display and sell their products at digital points of sale. It further enables them to reach a large segment of customers inside and outside the Saudi Kingdom. Through its electronic platform, the company also provides 3000 national products by relying on more than 70 local suppliers.
His Excellency praised the efforts of the owners of the emerging companies and their renewed and enriching ideas for the field of entrepreneurship. He expressed the university's readiness to support them and consolidate ways of cooperation with them, and to harness all its resources to sponsor specific projects that contribute to improving the quality of life and to achieving global market standards to serve the affiliates of Umm Al-Qura University.
