UQU College of Medicine has observed on Thursday Jumada Al-Oula 19, 1438 H, the gold mine's 20 celebration on the occasion of its 20th Anniversary. The celebration took place at King Abdul-Aziz Historical Hall at the university campus in Abdyia, in the presence of the UQU President Dr. Bakri bin M'atooq bin Bakri Assas, the UQU Vice Presidents, Deans of the Medical Colleges in the Kingdom and the graduates and internship students of the college.
After initiating the ceremony with a Quranic recitation, the celebration program started with three scientific lectures including; the medical education in the kingdom in the past, present and future presented by Dr. Khalid Abdurrahman, the Saudi physicians presented by Dr. Aymen Abdu, while the third lecture which was presented by Dr. Anamr Nassir was about the updated curriculum of the college of medicine and how it was selected in collaboration with London University College and the criteria upon which the curriculum was prepared. He added that the new curriculum attached much concern to Hajj, Umrah, Mass gathering medicine, first aid, community and family medicine and all diseases related to safety of pilgrims and Umrah doers. Further, Dr. Anamr praised the effort exerted by the committees in charge of the updated curriculum in the college of medicine. He also lauded the support and attention paid to the college by the UQU President Dr. Assas and his keenness along with the UQU Vice Presidents which contributed to the distinctiveness of the outputs of the college of medicine in particular and the medical colleges in general. " We are celebrating today the 20th anniversary of this vigorous college which was overseen by outstanding deans who contributed to distinctiveness of its yields during the past years", he expounded saying that "we are also celebrating launching of the updated curriculum in collaboration with the London University College and the obtainment of the academic accreditation for tis programs".
After that, the UQU President Dr. Bakri bin M'atooq Assas delivered speech in which he said that " we are celebrating today the 20th anniversary of this outstanding college which has graduated outstanding physicians who contributed to serve their religion and nation". He went on to add that "we are rightly proud of this vigorous and outstanding college for its past and current contributions to serve pilgrims during hajj and Umrah seasons and other patients in the hospitals".
The UQU President lauded the unstinting support that UQU, receive from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdul-Aziz, Deputy Premier, Minister of Interior, the Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Second Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense, and the close follow up of the Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Emir of Makkah Prince Khalid Al-Faisal in addition to keenness and attention paid to the university by the Minister of Education Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Al-Iesa, the thing which contributed to the distinctiveness of Umm Al-Qura University, its colleges and gifted staff and the college of medicine in particular, wishing success for everyone.
At the conclusion, Dr. Assas honored the college of medicine with a memorial shield which reflected the uniqueness of the celebration.
