Umm Al-Qura University launched yesterday the preventive medicine and field health isolation hospital at the University City in Al-Abdiyyah in cooperation with the General Directorate of Health Affairs in Makkah, which will operate the hospital.
The UQU Vice President, Prof. Farid Al-Ghamdi, praised the support provided by the wise leadership for the precautionary efforts and measures to combat the Coronavirus pandemic. He said this initiative comes within the scope of the social responsibility of the university towards its nation.
He noted the keenness of His Excellency the UQU President, Prof. Abdullah Bafail, to harness all the capabilities in cooperation with the Ministry of Health to overcome this crisis.
The Supervisor of the Activities of the UQU Vice Presidency for Branches and Project Management, Dr. Muhammad Al-Hazimi, indicated that the field hospital was prepared in 14 days with a capacity of 500 beds. It includes 4 halls and covers an area of 4500 square meters. He added that all preventive, public, safety and security requirements were taken into consideration to ensure the safety of everyone.
It is worth mentioning that the hospital's operational plan includes operating 200 beds in the first phase, as it includes all the academic medical support departments, represented in the laboratory and the Departments of Radiology, Pharmacy and Clinical Nutrition.
