A member of the Shura Council and Head of the Arab Parliament, Dr. Mishaal Al-Sulami, stressed that the Saudi Kingdom plays a key role in serving Arab causes. This has remained its approach since its foundation at the hands of King Abdul-Aziz bin Abdul-Rahman Al Saud, may Allah have mercy on him, and has continued until the era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud, may Allah safeguard him. The leaders of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have been keen, throughout history, to put the issues of the Arab countries at the top of their priorities.

This came during a seminar organized by the College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies at Umm Al-Qura University today, Tuesday, in King Abdul-Aziz Historical Support Hall. The seminar was entitled, "The Efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Serve the Causes of the Arab World", and was presented by Dr. Mishaal Al-Sulami, in the presence of His Excellency the President of the University, Prof. Abdullah Bafail, and a number of the university vice deans, college deans, and faculty members.

During the seminar, Dr. Al-Sulami reviewed the prominent role of the kingdom in establishing the League of Arab States, based on the belief of its leaders in the importance of supporting the unity of the Arab ranks to face the challenges and changes the region witnesses. He cited the wisdom of the founding king in his speech, stating that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia would like to see the Arab countries united, with harmony prevailing on solid principles and foundations; the entire Arab nations guided to what they aspire to, without looking for any private or individual gains to the exclusion of others; and the prevention of risks and obstacles that harm Arab interest, with steps taken in fulfillment of these goals being reasonable and controlled so that they may not be thwarted by any hindrance that may come their way.

Dr. Mishaal Al-Sulami presented a summary of the kingdom's support for the Palestinian cause, its backing of the Palestinian people to obtain their legitimate rights, and the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is also known for fostering the Palestinian cause, defending it in international arenas in support of Palestine and its people, and encountering all projects that try to obliterate the Arab-Islamic identity of the city of Jerusalem.

During his talk about the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's pioneering role in serving the causes of the Arab world, Dr. Al-Sulami reviewed the kingdom's contribution to the independence of the Arab countries and the defense of their sovereignty and territorial integrity, by taking clear and decisive stances during wars and crises in the face of colonialism. He further clarified its concrete efforts to confront terrorism and extremist ideologies, in addition to its permanent solidarity and continuous support in defending Arab national security.
