Prof. Abdul-Wahab Al-Resini, the UQU Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, met with the UQU scholarship students studying in the UK via video conference at the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education to discuss the issues related to their study and scholarship country. The virtual meeting took place in the presence of the General Supervisor of the Scholarships Office, Dr. Basim Makhdoum.
His Excellency Prof. Abdul-Wahab Al-Resini welcomed the UQU scholarship students and emphasized the university's constant support for them, underlining that these lauded efforts are exerted in light of the directions of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his Crown Prince to provide the scholarship students studying abroad with the required services and facilities. Moreover, His Excellency Prof. Abdul-Wahab Al-Resini described the scholarship students as ambassadors of Umm Al-Qura University and future Saudi scholars of whom the UQU is most proud.
During the virtual meeting, Prof. Abdul-Wahab Al-Resini and Dr. Basim Makhdoum responded to all the inquiries and addressed the problems faced by the scholarship students regarding the promotion system. They also discussed the possibility of initiating the promotion procedures electronically once the graduation certificate has been issued. Furthermore, they discussed the possibility of providing employment opportunities for the scholarship students as lecturers at the university, and explained the mechanisms of extending the scholarships. The virtual meeting stressed the need to initiate the procedures early, and benefit from the college councils to accelerate the completion of transactions and address the pending applications of the students.
Moreover, he added that within the next three months all the procedures of the promotions, extensions, and all the transactions of the scholarships and postgraduate studies will be performed electronically.
In addition, Prof. Abdul-Wahab Al-Resini stressed the university's intention to disburse the excellence awards for the papers published by the scholarship students during the scholarship period. During the meeting, Prof. Abdul-Wahab Al-Resini lauded the cooperation between the UQU Department of Scholarships and the Deanship of E-Learning to arrange this virtual meeting, pointing out the intention to organize future meetings for the UQU scholarship students studying in the United States, Australia, and the rest of the scholarship countries.
